Experience
I truly enjoy mathematics, which is why I am not only pursuing this as a career field, but why I have chosen to become a tutor for students struggling with math. I love to watch my students' faces when they finally understand what a derivative or an equation does, and my tutoring philosophy is oriented toward helping students not only learn the basics of how to use equations or solve math problems, but how they can do their own research and find answers. This way, if a student struggles in the future, whether it is with mathematics or another field of study, they know how to find the answer to their question, not just who to ask for answers. I've worked as a tutor for several years, especially with student groups and individuals struggling with undergraduate math classes. I also served as a teaching assistant for three years, working with professors to grade homework, hold office hours, and disseminate exams to students. Truly, however, I teach because I really love mathematics as a subject, and I want others to see the "true power" of math for themselves. I received both my undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Kansas, and I look forward to continuing my education through teaching.
