Private tutor in Prairie Village, KS
Education
Rockhurst University, BA in English Writing, 2015 I took specific classes such as: Creative Writing, Advanced Composition, History of British Literature, History of American Literature, Teaching of Writing. Honestly, it's impossible to say whether or not, of all the millions of English graduates in the world, to say that, "Yes, I am the BEST!" That would be untrue and unfair and, frankly, an utterly unresearched claim. I am not Toni Morrison, I am not F. Scott Fitzgerald, and I am not James Joyce. But, I have read them. I have studied the nuances of their writing; the ins and outs of their subject, style, and manner. I have written extensively on many famous others. I currently have four unpublished novels on this computer that I am typing to you now, on. This is all just to say: It would be hard to find an individual who shares my passion, drive, and joy in the face of a challenge. I like to collect knowledge the way Boy Scout's rack of merit badges, I greet each opportunity as a learning moment, and I desperately love English reading and writing and wish to share that with others.
Experience
Multiple AP classes, strictly Honors English classes through Freshman year of High School to Senior year of College. ACT, SAT, AP tutor. A list of relevant classes are contained within my "education" section, above. One of the many reasons I want to be a teacher is because, I simply love to read and write. The academic path to becoming a professor is long, expensive, and unfortunately not guaranteed. While pursuing my ultimate dream of teaching at the collegiate level, I would love to share my fiery love of the written and read language with others. This is especially important to me if you are the star student and need to experience a challenge with more difficult literature and a worthy discussion partner, or if you are a student who simply reads a book for class or receives an essay assignment and either you internally freak out or just shake your head in confusion. Well, both of those things happened to me, growing up, in my math classes! It sure would have been a great thing to have an excited, young, fun-loving, and dedicated tutor on my side. So, if you're looking for an intellectual sparring partner to beef up your vocabulary, challenge you with amazing literature, or help you along the path of becoming a writer--I'm your lady! If you would attend a book burning than turn in that essay that you barely understood--prepare for me to show up with a fire hose and a promise to help you never feel that way again about our paperback friends or our critical thought-spurring essay assignments!

Hobbies
My hobbies include nerdy passion for all things reading and writing, especially teaching it to others and watching that little light bulb of "AHA!" click on. I religiously do the crossword everyday, and have a great time doing that. I also spend a good deal of time doing outdoor activities with my dogs. I believe very strongly in the Oxford Comma, that anyone who does not find the last line of "Gatsby" heartbreakingly gorgeous has not read it, and that coming to love learning is exactly the way to succeed.
